Kireedam (2007) (Tamil: கிரீடம், Kirīṭam ?, English: Crown) is a Tamil film through which director A. L. Vijay, a longtime assistant and associate of director Priyadarshan, made his debut. The film starred Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan and Rajkiran in pivotal roles with Vivek, Saranya, Cochin Haneefa and Santhanam in other roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar.Kireedom started its first filming schedule on 15 December and was originally scheduled for release on 1 May 2007, coinciding with Ajith’s birthday; however, its release was eventually delayed to 20 July 2007.
It is a remake of Sibi Malayil's 1989 Malayalam film, Kireedam. It was also remade in Hindi by Priyadarshan as Gardish. However, unlike the original version in which the lead could not make his dream true, the climax of this movie is different. The Malayalam version was followed by a sequel, titled Chenkol.
